Messiah ist eine historisch informierte Einspielung von Georg Friedrich Händels Oratorium durch den Concentus Musicus Wien unter der Leitung von Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
Als Solisten wirken Christine Schäfer, Anna Larsson, Michael Schade und Gerald Finley mit.

Die Aufnahme erschien 2005 als 2×SACD (Hybrid, Stereo & Multichannel) und zeichnet sich durch eine klare, transparente Klangästhetik und schlanke Tempi aus. Harnoncourt legt den Fokus auf Textverständlichkeit, rhetorische Schärfe und barocke Ausdruckskraft statt romantischer Opulenz. Chor und Orchester agieren beweglich und differenziert, wodurch Händels Dramaturgie besonders plastisch wirkt.

Im Werdegang Harnoncourts steht diese Einspielung für seine konsequente Neubefragung des Kanons aus historischer Perspektive. Sie gilt als eine interpretatorisch stringente, moderne Lesart des Messiah, die Tradition respektiert und zugleich neue Hörweisen eröffnet.
