Fetish were formed in Cape Town in 1997 and developed a distinctive sound
combining alternative rock, electronic music and trip-hop.
At the centre of the music is the expressive voice of
Michelle Breeze, bringing strength, vulnerability and a
mysterious atmosphere to the songs.

With So Many Prophets, the South African band released its second
album in 1999 and created one of its most defining works.
Dense guitars, electronic textures and striking rhythms come together to
form a varied and remarkably timeless musical landscape.

Songs such as Permanent, If and Ground Below
demonstrate how naturally Fetish move between memorable melodies and
darker moments of tension.
The title track So Many Prophets reached number one on the charts
of the South African radio station 5FM, while Permanent also
entered the top ten.

Despite this success, the band remained largely unknown outside South Africa
and later almost faded into obscurity.
So Many Prophets is therefore an exciting rediscovery for anyone
who appreciates distinctive alternative rock with electronic and
atmospheric influences.
